CITY ISSUES : Places & Non-Places
The city is a city only because of its people. Architecture, a design discipline, is shaped by the factors for which it strives to produce a solution for. Through architecture, we get a series of places and a subsequent result of non-places. The series of places and non-places occurs as an intricate and interconnecting network within the fabrics of the city and is established upon the social, economical, political and cultural 'needs' and 'wants' of given spaces. But what exactly determines whether a space is a place or non-place within the city walls and where does the cities potential growth lie?
