At least six people were killed after a fire broke out at a plastics factory in Bangladesh capital city of Dhaka, fire service officials said Monday.

MORE: It was not immediately clear what caused the fire that broke out in the building in Chawkbazar in the old part of Dhaka.

One local resident claimed the fire had started after a gas tank exploded.

Fire service officials at the scene said they had pulled six bodies from a hotel in the building, adding they suspected the victims had been asleep when the fire started.
