Dancing robots, the latest high-tech drones and wearable technology for pets are on display at Hong Kong's annual electronics fair.
This year the fair emphasises how smart devices and mobile technology can benefit people's daily lives.
STORY-LINE:
Among the most impressive exhibits are the favourite of the tech-savvy audience - dancing robots.
The new robot developed by the UBTECH robotics Corp. promotes self-programming.
With the free software provided by the company, users can program the movement of the robot according to their taste of music.
"Once you buy the product we can give you a software, so that you can know how to program it, to give the young people the idea how to combine the software and the hardware together," says Jack Wang, Sales Vice President of the company.
The robot can also be automated to demonstrate kung fu.
Another highlighted product is the robot version of "Siri".
Customers can command the robot to do tasks like buying flight tickets and reading a book.
Some robots can be seen moving awkwardly.
To overcome the flaw, the company has added more divisions on its robots' arms and legs to ensure the flexibility of movement.
Away from robots, visitors can step into a large cage located in another side of the exhibition to experience a "visual flight journey".
In the cage, the new high-tech drone developed by the Yuneec International Co., Ltd. is flying above a "mini-world", constructed by paper-made main buildings from different countries.
Based in Hong Kong, the drone and aerospace company specialises in developing unmanned drone technology for both amateur and commercial use.
Its new product, "Typhoon Q500 4K" is user-friendly for everybody, even for amateur players.
The company director says customers can learn to fly the drone as fast as within 2 minutes.
The high-tech drone features customised applications like the "Follow me" and "Watch me" modes.
When the "Follow me" mode is turned on, the GPS system in the remote control will communicate with the drone and activate the function to follow the users.
Similarly, customers can switch on the "Watch me" mode to make the camera on the drone face them and take selfie images.
"The "Follow me" function is something like if you moving the RC ( remote control) to this side, the drone will follow, from here, they will follow together, and then, it's doing the "Follow me"(function). However, if you press the "Watch me" function and the drone will automatically turn the camera to facing the drone, the RC, the remote control, and then do the "Watch me" function." says Lawrence Wan, Regional Sales and Marketing manager of the Yuneec International Co., Ltd.
With ultra-high definition resolution, the camera onboard the drone is also able to capture high-quality images and slow motion photos with fine details.
"Typhoon Q500 4K" has a 25-minute flying time and can function in temperatures ranging from 50 to -20 degrees Celcius (122 to -4 Fahrenheit).
Pets are also being targeted by the tech designers.
Binatone Electronics International Limited, a leading developer of IoT connected lifestyle and electronics products for pets, baby care and family living has designed a high-tech collar for dogs.
"Motorola Scout 5000" enables close connectivity between owners and their pets.
A 4K wi-fi camera and a microphone are attached to the dog's collar so that owners can see the world through their pet's' eyes and talk to them.
It helps owners to track down their dogs when the dogs have gone out of sight.
The dancing robots have another brother in the exhibition centre.
