Bishop Dan Zoreka has called upon the new lay readers to walk a Holy Life. He said these words on official opening of the 2 days retreat that will lead into the commissioning service that will take place on the 7th May 2022 at St. Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare.
The Rt. Rev Dan Zoreka reading from Levi 11:44, and 1st Peter 1:15 encouraged those going to be commissioned as lay readers to strive to live a Holy life as enabled by the faithful God who has called them to this evangelical ministry.
The retreat Guest Speaker, Rev. Can Bernard Byamugisha also encouraged these candidates to be both cooperative and obedient to their supervisors in the church ministry. Bernard emphasized that those who will be patient will succeed. He said that they have been called as a result of un-melted favor from God.
These Lay readers have been on training for 2 years, however were interrupted by the subsequent lockdowns due to COVID-19 that affected their prior completion. These 60 Lay readers will be commissioned in church service, which will be followed by the allocation of these members into their different parishes and sub parishes.
Meanwhile, the Diocese of Kinkiizi will be celebrating 27 years since its inauguration that took place on 7th May 1995.
