Checking out the vegetarian/vegan refrigerated aisle in Shufersal, one of Israel's main national supermarket chains. There's a tremendous selection of vegetarian and vegan-friendly food even in mainstream Israeli supermarkets - which I think is a great thing!

Correction: not only does Israel have a "large" vegan and vegetarian-abiding population, it has the highest vegan population on the planet on a per-capita basis. Apparently, a full 5% of the population - or 1 in 20 - are vegans!
