In a state celebrated for its sport fishing, Owen Ballow always found it shameful that fresh-caught trout and salmon from the Great Lakes were limited to appearing as seasonal menu items at local restaurants.
So, the 56-year-old entrepreneur decided to do something about it.
Ballow has made a significant splash in the Michigan aquaculture industry since purchasing a nondescript roadside tourist attraction in Jackson County and transforming the 90-acre site into a large-scale commercial fish farm.
