Cultural tourism which later became the public spotlight was the culture of the Dayak tribal dance dance centered in the Pampang Dayak Village, Samarinda. It is no exaggeration if Pampang Village is a cultural destination in East Kalimantan that holds a unique uniqueness. In this village, tourists can enjoy traditional Dayak tribal dances in the Pamung Tawai traditional house. The magnificent traditional house is full of beautiful carvings typical of Dayak. Pampang Village itself has officially become a cultural village since 1991 and was inaugurated by the Governor of East Kalimantan at the time. It is reasonable if Pampang Dayak Village Samarinda has been named as one of the leading assets of local tourism, because its existence is able to attract both local and foreign tourists. Administratively, the Pampang Cultural Village is located in Pampang Village, North Samarinda District, East Kalimantan Province.
To enjoy the unique culture of the Dayak tribe in Pampang Village, tourists must travel 23 kilometers from the center of Samarinda. The journey itself must pass through the Samarinda - Bontang axle road. The location of Pampang Village is on the left side of the shaft road before Sungai Baru Airport. From the signboard at the entrance to the Dayak Village area, tourists still have to travel a distance of approximately 1 kilometer to the location. Routinely every week the local community of Pampang Village holds a performance of Dayak tribal dance. For tourists who want to enjoy the traditional dance presentation, they can come on Sunday or the day before, because this event is only held every Sunday from 14.00 WITA - 15.00 WITA.
This Dayak tribal dance was held at a traditional house called Pamung Tawai Traditional Lamin. This traditional house is made of Ulin wood with decorations and carvings on almost all parts of the wall. This is clearly visible from the main wall (backdrop) filled with dominant Dayak carvings in black, white and yellow. Likewise, the supporting pillar of a house with a diameter of two meters is decorated with beautiful carvings. On the roof made of Sirap wood, there are sturdy carvings in the center and corners.
Diversity of Typical Dayak Dance
The superior culture of the Samarinda Pampang Village is dominated by traditional dances. Recorded several types of dances that tourists can enjoy every Sunday, namely Bangen Tawai, Hudoq, Kanjet Anyam Tali, Ajay Pilling, Kancet Lasan, Nyalama Sakai, Punan Lancu Kancet, and many more. Uniquely before one dance starts, the host will explain the meaning of the dance that will be held. For example, the Kanjet Anyam Tali dance which describes the differences in ethnicity, culture, nation and language but still one. All dances held in Pampang Village involve all young and old people.
To be able to watch cultural performances of traditional dances in the Pampang Samarinda Dayak Village, visitors are charged Rp. 15,000 per person. After enjoying the dance presentation, the tourists can take pictures with the local indigenous people, of course by wearing Dayak tribe traditional dress. Generally for taking pictures with long-ear natives, there is an additional fee.
