The story was set in Venezuelan Amazonas region which remains one of the last unexplored places left on earth. No dinosaurs survive but the jungle is home to many spine-chilling, real-life creatures. Many are deadly poisonous and warrant the respect the local Amerindians bestow upon them. In a drug-induced ceremony, the village shaman prays to the spirits of one in particular - the giant tarantula.
