Malaysian River Terrapin are under immense pressure from illegal wildlife trade for their body parts, selling of their eggs and habitat destruction. Their status is "Endangered".
An effort for their rehabilitation and restoration is being made under the leadership of Dr. Pelf Nyok Chen the Founder of Turtle Conservation Society Malaysia.
