Farmers get trapped into the wrong and lucrative proposal offered by the tobacco companies. As a result, they are more prone to cultivate tobacco than food crops, which is undoubtedly threatening for food security.
This report was done on the district of Kushtia, where most of the farmers are engaged in cultivating tobacco. Mir Abdur Razzak, Executive Director of Social Advancement Forum (SAF) of Kustia was interviewed in this report. He said, increasing tobacco cultivation threats environment, public health & food security.
