A member of the Punjabi dialect continuum, Seraiki's status as a separate language or distinct variety of Punjabi is a matter of popular and academic tension. Seraiki is most commonly written with a variety of the Arabic alphabet known as the Shahmukhi, though the Gurumukhi, Devanagari, and Langdi scripts are also commonly used.
