Enhanced high-def 1969 live televised performance of The Fifth Dimension performing Medley: Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures) from their album Age Of Aquarius, originally written for the 1967 rock musical Hair. The 5th Dimension song reached number one for six weeks on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in 1969. The 5th Dimension's five original members were Billy Davis Jr., Florence LaRue, Marilyn McCoo, Lamonte McLemore, and Ronald Townson.
Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In is listed at number 66 on Billboard's "Greatest Songs of All Time." The recording won both the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Group for the Grammy Awards of 1970.
Instrumental backing was provided by session musicians The Wrecking Crew, including terrific Fender bass guitar lines. Two of their members, drummers Hal Blaine and Earl Palmer, were among the inaugural "sidemen" inductees to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. The 5th Dimension also performed live on stage at the Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969, around the time of Woodstock.
