Hi! Today, the restoration of a small curved dagger of the Caucasian type. The condition is average, there is deep rust. The handle parts have rotted despite the horny material. Well, I'm starting to recover.
First, I removed the old handle parts for a long time, then placed the dagger in a rust remover. Next, I placed the dagger in water with soda to neutralize the acid.
Next, cleaning the surface with an iron brush and light grinding. I choose a beautiful dry piece of walnut for the handle. (there was no bone material for the dagger handle).
I made the rivets out of brass. I didn't use any glue.
I soaked the handle with beeswax, and then used linseed oil. The dagger sheath was made of wood, covered with natural thin leather. I added the fittings (which I had). Tied a leather suspension. It turned out to be a beautiful object for the wall.
Don't forget to share this video, please.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
