Old graphics cards are great. Some can still run modern games - in fact, some are as good or better than brand new cards. Of course, it’s not all good news for budget builders. Powerful older cards are far less efficient than modern ones, using way more power than their performance would suggest. To improve the old card’s efficiency, it’s possible to drop the GPU’s voltage and thereby reduce power consumption - and sometimes this is even possible without reducing performance.
