Sitting at about 12,000 feet in the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, the Yulla Kanda Krishna Temple holds the title of the world’s highest Krishna temple. It’s said that the Pandavas, during their exile, visited this region and created the lake where the temple now stands.
The trek to the temple starts from the village of Yulla Khas and takes you to this incredible spot. Sree Krishna Janmashtami is the biggest festival here, and it is celebrated with great significance. According to Kinnauri tradition, if you float an inverted Kinnauri cap in the lake and it reaches the other side, it’s considered a sign of good things to come in life.
