Tagore's Kuti-bari at SHILAIDAHA located in Kumarkhali subdistrict under Kustia district in Bangladesh. Tagore's father Dwarkanath Tagore founded this village-palace in Kustia where nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore spent over a decade starting from 1890.
During his stay, he created many of his famous poems, essays and short stories. Among those some of the masterpieces are Sonar Tari, Katha o Kahini, Chitra, Chaitali, etc. It was here, in Shelaidaha in 1912, that he started translating his Gitanjali into English, which earned him the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913.
