The U-S Secretary of State, Warren Christopher, has pledged America's support to France in its attempt to get better protection to United Nations peacekeepers in Bosnia.
France is calling for an emergency meeting of the U-N Security Council after two more of its soldiers were killed in Bosnia last week.
It's also threatening to withdraw its troops, who make up the biggest single peace keeping contingent in the former Yugoslavia.
At a news conference organised with the Japanese Foreign Minister, Christopher said he would work with the French to try to improve the safety of troops in Bosnia.
SOUNDBITE:
"The United States would like to see the UNPROFOR troops remain there. We certainly understand the concern of the French government, having lost two soldiers in the last several days, so I told the French Foreign Minister that we'd be glad to work with him with respect to that resolution. And, of course, it's the implementation of resolutions like that that is the key factor."
