STORYLINE:
Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu met his Polish counterpart in Bucharest on Wednesday to discuss their countries' response to the conflict in Ukraine.
Polish minister Zbigniew Rau said sanctions against Russia should be intensified.
"We must actively support Ukraine to defend itself against the aggressor and to get back in totality its occupied territory," he said.
Speaking alongside Rau, Aurescu said that both Romania and Poland faced "serious challenges" in helping Ukraine.
He added that both countries needed to continue helping Ukraine with "political, economical, financial and humanitarian diplomatic (assistance) or through the facilitation of grain exports."
Poland has offered support to Ukraine on an unprecedented scale, shouldering the majority of refugees who have been fleeing the country since March.
