"The Upsides of Lockdown" Part 2:
J.S. Bach - Bourée in Em - On Uilleann Pipes!
Since lockdown started almost a year ago, I've been working on "strange" things for the pipes - first ad foremost on a few settings of classical pieces for the pipes. I got especially interested in one composer: Johann Sebastian Bach. Since I started working on some of his compositions, I've also discovered other pipers who drew material from his work (Tom Kannmacher, Marco Pollier, etc.)
What makes Bach especially challenging for the pipes is the constant modulation that's happening which doesn't particularly agree with traditional drone- and regulator setups.
For this "tune", one of his most famous compositions especially amongst guitarrists, I am using a D chanter, the tenor regulators of my B and my D set and the drones of my B set - with some minor reed adjustments, I got my bass drone to play an E!
So, thanks to Richard Patkós for providing me with 2 sets of pipes that allow me to do things like this and: Enjoy the music!!!!
