The Canadian Forces Snowbirds Can Best Be Described As ‘Elegant’…
EAA AirVenture 2016 was a great show and, in no small part, it was because of the participation of the 431 Air Demonstration Squadron from Canada - better known as the Canadian Forces Snowbirds. Their appearance at AirVenture was a special treat, and that’s what this video is all about.
There’s something about their performances that seems to stand out as being more than a presentation of military prowess; it also seems to be a demonstration of elegance. Maybe it’s because they fly jet trainers that seem to stay closer to the crowds, closer to the ground, and easier for all to see the finesse and details of their formations. It could be the fact that they fly 9 airplanes in sections of their routine which is nothing short of spectacular.
ANN news editor, Tom Patton, had the privilege of interviewing Captain Ave Pyne who flies Snowbird number 2. While the video has plenty of flying scenes, this interview also gives you insights as to why this team is so popular. Captain Pyne comes across like the thousands of others at AirVenture who are genuinely glad to be there. Tom gets Captain Pyne to talk about his background and you’ll find that as interesting as their exquisite performances.
We were even told that one of the Snowbird pilots brought his camping gear and camped out with the rest of the Oshkosh camping crowd. If you don’t enjoy this video, someone needs to check your pulse.
