SM-2 Missiles (Standard Missile-2) are fired by U.S. Navy ships during a live-fire Missile Exercise (MISSLEX) as the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) strike group completes the final certification exercise prior to deployment, Composite Training Unit Exercise (COMPTUEX). As part of the Aegis Weapons System, the SM-2 variants are lethal against subsonic, supersonic, low-altitude and high-altitude, high-maneuvering, diving, sea-skimming, anti-ship cruise missiles fighters, bombers and helicopters in an advanced electronic countermeasures environment. SM-2 missiles have successfully intercepted targets over its flight test history with more than 2,650 tests from United States and Allied ships. Filmed on March 15, 2016.
