This lecture is about the Otsu algorithm which is a kind of global thresholding algorithm. Otsu algorithm was firstly published in IEEE Transaction on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics in 1979.
The outline of this lecture includes:
(1) introduction about the definition and formulation of global thresholding.
(2)class separability measure about the criteria used in Otsu algorithm to measure the goodness of the threshold value.
(3) threshold selection algorithm about the implementation detail of how to select an optimal value for thresholding.
