It's been over 8 years since Vegas was diagnosed with epilepsy. We have him on twice daily dosing of phenobarbital, Zonisamide and Potassium bromide. His blood levels are checked 3 times a year..his last check came back good. He is still having seizures, but they are no longer clusters (more than one seizure within a certain time frame) and usually no postictal effects, except for being exhausted. This morning I was able to capture one on video. Again, I do this because I was unable to find a video to help me understand his type of epilepsy in dogs. Please don't take any offense to this and don't leave any nasty comments. This is strictly to help educate anyone who is dealing with this type of issue. Sept 25th 2010
In case you are wondering..I try to keep him upright.. During the seizure, he tends to want to lay on his side and back. This can cause him to aspirate the phlegm and drool and in turn...cause pneumonia. Log on to www.englishbulldognews.com for lots more information on bulldog epilepsy and head tremors.
