Democratically-elected politicians of Myanmar have been taken into custody, the internet has been cut off and a one-year state of emergency is in place as the military announced it had taken over governing in the country.
It comes just months after an election propelled Aung San Suu Kyi and her party into power for another term after a landslide victory.
The military has claimed there was fraud that took place during the election. Now, world leaders are calling for politicians' release.
Eric Sorensen reports on why the coup happened and what it means for the country's future.
