Many know that the first assembly line is created by Henry Ford. Although it has some truth it is not the whole story. The first assembly line is actually created by Ransom Eli Olds, founder of Olds Motor Works, or more commonly, “Oldsmobile”. The assembly line that he created is known as the ‘Stationary Assembly Line’ in which he quintuple his factory’s output from 425 cars in 1901 to 2500 in 1902. What Henry Ford did is improve upon Olds’s idea by adding conveyor belts and making the ‘Dynamic Assembly Line’. Which are both very significant improvements in the automotive manufacturing history.
