Canon XF-100 HD video camera test, by Jeff Burkholder, CAworkshops.com Executive Producer. This test was to see the ability and how it works in fully automatic mode. The camera was set at the factory defaults, though I did change the Mbps to 35, because for a YouTube video there was really no reason for broadcast 50 Mbps.
This is really shows the ease of use and I'm amazed on just how easy and how great of quality this little camera does. The 'Auto Gain' is really amazing, the shot in the studio's kitchen was with no lights on and with only the lights coming from the studio ceiling (15' high) and bouncing off the cove walls. Honestly it was really dark.
Audio, I'm also pretty amazed on how good the audio is considering I was behind the camera and the mic's are in front. I also later did some audio testing with a boom mic and wireless's, the audio is really easy to control and the auto limiter's very good in control; did some hand clap, yelling to see if it could handle it and it did a very nice job. Might just not need the field mixer and audio deck on some shoots. Though I'm still a person that uses off-camera recording systems and sync later. But this should give a great sync track to work from.
For a small (though super light-weight) broadcast quality; 50 Mbps, 1920x1080, 4:2:2 color camera, with dual CF cards. I'm really amazed on how great this little camera is.
