Erected by John Howie, farmer, Kirklands of Rattray in memory of his father James Howie who died 3rd of November 1839 aged 78 years, also his mother Jannet Bruce who died 4th of March aged 57 years, also his brother James who died 5th of July 1843 aged 12 years, and Thomas who died in infancy Seotember 1785.
