Cement retained implant crowns are the crowns which are cemented onto the abutment, which are the third part of the implant restoration. These are given in the aesthetic zones like the front teeth, whenever the access zone is not preferable in the aesthetic region. Whenever possible, we should not try to give a cement retained restoration. We should always go for a screw retained restoration because retrievability will be a major factor at a later stage. The major problem with the cement retained restoration is no retrievability. It will cause inflammation around the implant whenever the excess cement is not removed. Cement retained restoration is used with certain caution. If there is any loosening of the screw in between the abutment and the implant. There might not be a possibility of retreivability of the crown. We have to sometimes cut the crown and sometimes we will be able to remove the crown which will be able to add up to redoing the crown, so whenever we are giving cement retained restoration, we have to give a margin which is above the gum level.
