The high-tech new Haval H6 has arrived in Australia, where it's taking aim at formidable and hugely popular mid-size SUVs like the Toyota RAV4, Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson, and it has some impressive weapons in its arsenal to fight them.

An impressive standard equipment list across all variants includes twin 10.25-inch LCD screens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED headlights, LED tail-lights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

The comprehensive safety suite extends to seven airbags, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, reversing camera and both front and rear parking sensors.

Within the striking exterior design is a roomy, high-tech interior and under the bonnet is a brawny 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine hooked up to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Wrap all that up with ultra-competitive drive-away pricing starting at $30,990 drive-away and a strong seven-year warranty, and this Chinese SUV looks great on paper.
