The Education department in the Eastern Cape is confident that it will improve on the 70 percent matric results attained in 2018. It has put more effort in its programmes to ensure that it does not regress but improves in 2019. The province climbed from the bottom of the ladder with an improvement of over five percent from 2017. The filling of teacher vacancies in rural schools is also seen as a step in the right direction.
