The obscure Hungarian-American composer Gabriel von Wayditch remains one of music’s forgotten masters. With a legacy of 14 REALLY grand operas of epic length, he ranks near Sorabji for pure musical stamina and endurance. This is the only performance of an opera of his and was originally released as a 2 LP set on MHS – from which this rip was made - and later reissued as CDs on VAI,
Musically, the language is intoxicatingly over-the-top Strauss/Schreker with touches of Janacek. Given the economics of the music industry, we'll probably never hear another note of his music but these ARE fascinating high-quality works. Enjoy!
