Did you know that you can turn a raw egg into a bouncy, rubbery egg with just a few household supplies!? This super fun bouncy egg experiment will amaze you and your kids while learning the incredible science behind it too!
The hardest part about this bouncy egg experiment for kids is waiting a couple days for the vinegar to react with the egg to make a bouncing egg, but I promise it is totally worth it!
Supplies Needed:
2 Raw Eggs (We used 1 white and 1 brown egg for comparison)
2 Clear Cups
White Vinegar
2 Spoons
The science behind how to turn an egg into a bouncy egg:
The magic behind turning a raw egg into a bouncy egg is all thanks to the reaction between the vinegar and the egg shell.
As the vinegar reacts with the carbon in the egg shells, tiny bubbles will form on the outside of the egg shells.
After a couple of days, the egg shell will become dissolved into the vinegar and you will be left with the transparent membrane of the egg.
The membrane of the egg is the thin layer between the shell and the white and yoke of the egg. It allows vinegar to get inside, so the egg will get larger and become very squishy without the hard egg shell any longer on the outside.
