The Burstner Campeo C540 is the smallest 4x4 camper I know of that is fully equipped with toilet, shower and kitchen. The Campeo C540 is the first four-wheel drive vehicle from Bürstner.
The Campeo was brought out for the 2020 season so it has now been going for some time. The original vehicle was on a Fiat base, the all-wheel drive based is on the Citroën. The Fiat based Campeo has several layouts, but there is only one 4 by 4 layout. However Bürstner say they will do more choice in the future.
Don't of course take my word on this vehicle, it will be worth seeing the opinion of the world's leading canine expert on the subject of the 4x4 Burstner Campeo C540 : [ Ссылка ]
The off road kit was made by the French all-wheel drive specialist Dangel.
The Campeo C 540 is the first layout placed on the all-wheel drive chassis. This van takes its name from its length – 541 centimetres. Inside it has a lengthwise double bed, ideal for your dog. Up front there is a dinette with a forward facing bench on which you can sleep in a sitting position whilst your dog is using the bed. There is also a tiny table with an even smaller extension.
There is also the same kitchen you see in every campervan. It has two burners and a miniscule sink. The front of the refrigerator is at the side because there is not enough room in the aisle to open it.
The wet room is also tiny, but remember how small the van is. Maybe you will be complaining when you are in the shower but you will not be complaining when you need to park it in a tight space!
You can get a van with the optional pop-up tent in the roof.
Bürstner says that the outside of the Campeo 4 by 4 already looks like "off-road". That is probably because they parked it in the middle of nowhere and then lost the keys. Other than that, it has graphics that suggest the driver has no sense of orientation. It also has wheel arch extensions and all-terrain tyres.
As a Citroen van conversion, it is 205 wide. It has 140 horse power, that is 103kW .
The Dangel off road conversion has a drive train with viscous coupling, electronic traction system (for all wheels, coupled with ESP), mudguards for the engine and fuel tank and increased ground clearance. It has 16 inch, 40 centimetre alloy wheels.
You can take as additional option an active 4 package. This is even more off road than off road! At least that is what Bürstner thinks! It includes a rear axle lock, protection for the fuel tank and an SCR catalytic converter, coarse-tread BF Goodrich All Terrain 16 ’’ tyres, wheel arch extensions and a chassis elevation of 22 mm at the front and 60 mm at the rear. You can also have a limited slip differential, which enables individual control of each wheel.
You will also find aluminium frame windows, special upholstery which is ideal for your dog to sit on and a front protection bar, upon which, your dog can urinate to mark out her or his territory.
