Tens-of-thousands of Polish farmers have rallied in the country’s capital, Warsaw, to protest food imports from Ukraine and the European Union’s agricultural policies.
The farmers and those supporting their cause blew horns and let off smoke bombs and flares in the red and white colours of Poland.
Protesters marched to Poland’s parliament in Warsaw before heading to Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s office.
Farmers are calling for a withdrawal from the EU’s Green Deal.
The deal is intended to battle climate change and help the environment, but protesters claim the measures implemented in the Green Deal are too costly.
Farmers are also calling for a ban on importing grain from Ukraine and other produce, as it is allegedly of poor quality and damaging the country’s food supply.
The protesters believe the import of Ukrainian products is putting Poland’s agricultural sector in danger.
