The Whiskey Sour is the undisputed King of Sour Cocktails, but are you making it the right way? Depends on which version you look at probably, as there have been many different ones throughout the 140+ year history of this cocktail. So today we’ll go through its history to find out if the Modern Whiskey Sour is better than the older ones! I’ll first make the stirred 1900 version featured in the Twentieth Century Guide for Mixing Fancy Drinks, replacing only the $22,000 Hermitage Rye Whiskey with a cheaper Rittenhouse Rye! We’ll then jump to the 1883 Frosted Sour from the Bar-keeper's Guide, which is the first appearance of egg white in the Whiskey Sour. I’ll end with a Modern 2023 Whiskey Sour using Super Juice and Super Syrup to make a vegan and sustainable alternative to this classic drink.
