Summary
“Knowledge is power” has become “data is the new currency” in our modern digital age. Data collection, storage, and analysis is ubiquitous in our world and this data has immense innate value. However, properly utilizing any data depends on producing—and consuming—data that is well-organized for its purpose and readily available to everyone that requires it. This data produces true value: effective, efficient decision-making that improves outcomes.
In the Province of Ontario—and across the world—shared data is used and required for infrastructure projects ranging from high-speed internet to transit, to municipal water renewal and housing developments. Projects like these involve large numbers of private sector partners, utilities, policymakers, and the inclusion of municipal, provincial, and federal government.
This presentation will examine the impact and benefits of obligated data sharing between all stakeholders for infrastructure planning, design, and construction. You will learn how the rest of the world uses shared data to improve infrastructure projects' efficiency and cost-effectiveness remarkably. You’ll also learn how we’re pioneering similar policies and developments in our province, making Ontario the most attractive place to invest resources to improve service delivery and build infrastructure.
