The “Petite Messe solennelle,” composed between 1863 and 1864, was commissioned for Countess Louise Pillet -Will for the consecration of her private chapel. This mass and “Stabat mater” are two of Rossini's most important--and most famous--sacred works.
This performance with The Virginia Chorale (@virginiachorale3644) recorded in May 2023, featured double piano and harmonium. I was the tenor soloist for this performance and was accompanied by Brandon Eldredge, Associate Conductor and Chorus Master for Virginia Opera.
