Every Mainland® Magnum® Polishing Internal Filter comes with a Micron Cartridge, the only one of its kind in the industry.

When the traditional cylinder is replaced with this unique cartridge, it can be “charged” using diatomaceous earth, giving you unmatched water-polishing capabilities.

Here’s how to do it:

Fill a container with de-chlorinated water only.

Then, with the Micron Cartridge and internal Micron rigid core installed, place the assembled filter in the container. Note: The container should be deep enough to submerge the Magnum Filter completely.

Finally, plug the filter in and add six tablespoons of diatom powder to the water. Once the water is clear, this means your Micron Cartridge is “charged.”

Next, unplug and transfer the filter to your aquarium. Make sure to follow the Marineland® Magnum® instructions for proper installation.

Once installed, allow the filter to run until your aquarium water has reached the desired level of clarity.

If additional filtration is provided with a separate filter, the Micron Cartridge may be left in place to continuously polish the water, until the Micron Cartridge requires replacing.
