At the 1978 NFC Championship, the Dallas Cowboys defeated the Los Angeles Rams by a final score of 28-0 to advance to Super Bowl XIII. However, while there wasn't a ton of drama on the field, off the field, with regards to the broadcast by CBS, there was plenty of drama to go around. Because CBS' controversial decision, through their own incompetence, to pre-empt the hit TV show Alice, despite promoting it throughout the entire game, left a ton of fans, especially those on the East Coast, up in arms.
