Thunderstorm Strong Winds and Torrential Rain Wild Camp in the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label Tent
In this video, I head out into the great outdoors in some horrendous weather, with thunderstorms, torrential rain and strong winds forecast. I had originally planned to camp on a Lake District mountain summit, but the forecast was for thunderstorms into late evening. The second location I chose forecast storms but finishing earlier. I took the Hilleberg Soulo Black Label tent which is designed to withstand extreme conditions.
Taking advantage of a break in the storms, I pitched the tent and settled down as the weather began to worsen. Storms passed overhead and the tent was hit by strong buffeting winds. As the thunderstorms passed over, they were replaced by constant strong winds with ferocious gusts and torrential, wind driven rain. The tent performed admirably and the 10mm poles really shone through as the structure remained rigid with the help of some ground anchors.
An evening meal from the shelter and security of the tent, whilst enjoying some fine craft beer. This was a wild camp to remember and a fantastic adventure in our great outdoors.
