Butternut squash is beginning to grow in popularity among health conscious individuals as they are learning about its high levels of nutrition and abilities to promote our overall health a number of different ways. It is very nutrient dense and contains potent compounds and antioxidants that have many benefits for our health. They are also able to fit in a number of different diets and are found in many different healthy recipes. Now, lets discuss some of the tremendous health benefits of eating butternut squash regularly.
1. First, as mentioned previously, butternut squash is incredibly nutrient dense. It contains high amounts of many important vitamins, minerals and other nutrients that are important for ur health. These nutrients include vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, vitamin E, manganese and vitamin B6 to name a few. Butternut squash contains three different types of carotenoid antioxidants, which are known as beta-carotene, alpha-carotene and beta-cryptoxanthin. As well, the high levels of manganese found in butternut squash promotes enzyme reactions of these antioxidants.
3. Consuming butternut squash regularly can also help to promote the overall health of our bones and keep them healthy. This is often attributed to the high levels of potassium that it contains. Potassium can help to strengthen the bones and has been associated with denser bones, which can help prevent unwanted bone ailments such as osteoporosis. Butternut squash also contains good levels of bone healthy manganese, which is also beneficial for overall bone health.
