Mikael Pedersen was born on 25 October 1855 in Denmark at Flong, near Marbjeg, and died destitute on 22 October 1929 in an old people's home in Copenhagen aged nearly 74 years.
His remains were exhumed by Finn Wodschow of Copenhagen from the unmarked pauper's grave and brought to Dursley where they were reinterred on 21 September 1995. A detailed account was set out in the Veteran-Cycle Club magazine News & Views over two issues.
