"Gutless & Grateful: A Musical Feast" is a cabaret act written and directed by Amy Oestreicher, with the help of David Friedman, David Brunetti, and Jerold Goldstein. Amy, an ambitious, audacious teenager who had her young life all planned out -- go to college, win a Tony, and conquer the world -- was rattled when life took an unexpected detour. A week before her high school senior prom, Amy found herself in unusual pain. Rushed to the emergency room, due to a blood clot, Amy's stomach exploded to the ceiling of the operating room. She almost died. Both of her lungs had collapsed and she soon learned that she may never be able to taste food again. After months in a coma, Amy underwent 24 surgeries during the next three years. Miraculously, her intestines were reconstructed and she was given a system that digests food.
Join us for an evening of inspiring story-telling and song as Amy Oestreicher shares the disappointments, the triumphs, and the humor -- the challenges, the battles, and ultimately the gifts of what Amy received from this experience. It is a story of hope, determination, and perseverance a way to share her gratitude and strength with the world. Through the ups and downs, Amy's fight proves that you never know what you are capable of until you are asked to the challenge and the human spirit can prevail over any odds.
