Women in early 19th century America. Females in American Society prior to 1850. Collection of six interesting books relating to these themes. All in interesting and attractive original period bindings, three of which are leather, one a rare decorative silk fabric with floral gilt stamped lettering, one with hand marbled boards. Two or three can be considered early portable pocket sized books, meant for easy personal transport.

To Which are Added, Complimentary Cards, Wills, Bonds, &c., by R. Turner. 1834, Philadelphia, Desilver Jr. Thomas. Period full leather binding, outline ruled in gilt, gilt device with title to spine. Well worn, front cover loose, clearly a book which has seen much handling and consultation. Issued by a famous cartographic firm.

The Wrongs of Woman, by Charlotte Elizabeth. 1843, New York, M. W. Dodd. Publishers decoratively blind stamped covers, spine intricately gilt decorated and lettered in period style.
The Ladies Garland. c.1844. Period 1/2 leather binding, marbled boards. lacks title page, begins with page 1. Interesting content, including numerous songs with music, Indian Captive story, aimed at edifying and improving domestic female readers of the era.
