Project Anoulak (‘conservation’ in Lao language) is a French-registered non-for-profit association dedicated to the long-term conservation and study of wildlife in their natural habitats in Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR or Laos), in particular in the Nakai- Nam Theun National Protected Area (NNT NPA).
Our MISSION is to develop and implement innovative, multidisciplinary and sustainable approaches to the long-term conservation and study of the biodiversity and ecosystems in Nakai- Nam Theun National Protected Area, central-eastern Laos, with a passionate and dedicated team of nationals and internationals.
Our VISION is the restoration of the biodiversity of NNT NPA with empowered local community as principal actors and advocates for the safeguard of the habitat and wildlife through conscious and informed sustainable livelihoods and development. A strong, dedicated, passionate and skillful scientific community of young Lao nationals acting together for the sustainable future of Laos? forest, biodiversity, environment and people.
Our work:
Biodiversity research -- We conduct scientific research on several aspects of wildlife ecology
Capacity building -- We provide training and support to Lao nationals in their early career as field biologists. We are training villagers as our research assistants; they are invaluable to the success of our research
Habitat protection -- We use active patrolling with trained rangers from the local community to protect the forest and the wildlife from illegal activities such as hunting and logging
Environmental education -- We conduct conservation education activities in Nakai District to inform, engage and empower local communities in ecosystem protection.
We produce exclusive educational resources such as children’s books in collaboration with writers and artists
