During the later Vedic period(9 - 6 century BC) yajnakvaklya envisioned the vision of sun centric earth with the earth revolving around the sun. Yajnavlakya measured the distance from the Earth to the moon and the sun as 108 times the diameter of the moon and the sun respectively. these measurements were much closer to the modern measurements values of 110.66 times for the moon and 107.06 times for the sun. He also suggested that the moon did not have light of its own but reflected the light for sun.
