(12 Nov 2013) Police in Bulgaria's capital clashed with protesters who tried to blockade the parliament building on Tuesday, demanding that the left-leaning government resign and early elections be called.
Hundreds of protesters, mostly students, tried to form a human chain around parliament in an attempt to blockade lawmakers inside.
Several demonstrators were injured when police used force to try to push them away.
The protest in Sofia was organised by students who have been occupying Bulgarian universities for several weeks.
Their actions are part of a five-month-old movement against the Socialist-led government and its leaders, who have been accused of having ties to shady businessmen.
