This Cannon is a mobile artillery piece which is known as a Grasshopper. Its a three pounder, which means it fires three pound projectiles. It was the most common artillery piece on the battlefield during the Revolutionary War. It’s crewed by five people but the two reenactors here demonstrate how you would load and fire one of these small cannons.
This event was at the Camden Burials honoring 14 Revolutionary War Soldiers in Camden, SC this weekend.
