According to the International Organization for Migration, as of March this year, around 3.4 million internally displaced persons (IDPs) were registered in Ukraine. Despite their guaranteed right to housing from the state, IDPs often must rent accommodation on their own. The share of social housing remains extremely low, and policy in this area has never been systematic.
During the event, we discussed which housing support programs for IDPs are currently available, who funds them, and who they are intended for. We also explored how the government develops legislation and approaches to creating a social housing fund.
