How's it going neighbors This is Ed here with etrailer.com and we're taking a look at the Konig XB-16 Tire Chains for our 2024 Dodge Durango. When you're adding tire chains to your vehicle, essentially what you're trying to do is get increase traction during unfavorable conditions like ice, snow, mud. This is gonna allow you to get that bite into the road to keep you going down your intended course. So let's take a closer look at our chains and see what they do for our Durango. First thing you may notice about your tire chains is the fact your links are square links. Square links are gonna do a good job of giving you edges to bite into the pavement to keep your traction and they're laid out in the diamond pattern.

So what the diamond pattern's gonna do is gonna allow you to have a little bit more traction on the sides of your wheels, and it works well for those areas that have more windy roads. Now, as far as the clearance behind your vehicle, it is actually pretty clear, these are gonna be the smallest profile tire chains that I've installed on the Durango today. Now, if you take a look in your Dodge Manual for your tire size 265/50-20, the Dodge actually recommends the Konig XB-12 tire chains. The XB-12s are rated up to a tire size of 18 inches, where this is a 20 inch tire. So essentially we don't have those on hand to try on, but this is gonna be more of a correct fit for that larger wheel.

Another thing to keep in mind is that you're gonna want to install these guys on your rear axle, per the Dodge Manual. The gray powder coated chain is going to go on the exterior of your wheel, and you can take notice that the red clips are gonna be points of contact where you're gonna actually feed that gray chain through. The color coating on the back of it is well is gonna give you indications with the blue seal on the outside of your braided cable. Now, as far as how your package is gonna arrive, you're gonna get this nice case here and I usually suggest adding gloves and possibly something to get on the ground cut so you don't have to lay in the ice or snow or anything. Installation with this product is super easy and I'll show you how to get it done.

We're gonna start our installation by laying our chain on the floor, making sure our links are all free and there's no twisted parts so everything can go smoothly behind the vehicle. One of the cool things is the fact you don't have to get on the ground and make your connection, so you're gonna thread the blue braided cable behind your wheel. So I'm gonna just put everything in together and I'm gonna hook this rubber tensioner onto the cable itself just to keep on the chain itself to keep it from getting caught up. And we're just gonna feed it all through underneath. Now we're gonna take our braided section and make our connection behind the wheel right here.

We're just gonna slide that in and it'll snap right into place. Now we're gonna pull our chain towards the front, making that first connection here just to kind of keep everything where we like it and gonna get our gray section towards the front. Now we're gonna enter our chain and give it a good tug, these red clips and basically all the red points of contact is gonna let you know where you're gonna make your contacts. And then from here, we can hook on our included tensioner, and now you're gonna do the same thing on the other side and you can roll forward a little bit, make any necessary adjustments, but these chains are gonna be good to go when you go down the road. The XB-16 tire chains are gonna work out really well for a person that wants something that's convenient that you can get installed really quickly, they're gonna give you some of the better clearance of the tire chains that I fit to the '24 Durango, and they're just overall gonna be the best option to get the traction device on the vehicle quickly.
